Saunas are a great way to remove toxins from your body and to help you feel more alive and rejuvenated. Many people turn to saunas as a way to flush out their system when dealing with common colds or congestion along with other ailments.

While traditional dry saunas may be the most well-known, there is another option that has proven to be far more beneficial.

1. HEAT

The main difference between a traditional dry sauna and an infrared sauna is the temperature needed to feel the health benefits. A traditional sauna will get up to 195 degrees and can be overwhelming to those more sensitive to the heat. An infrared sauna, however, uses a much milder temperature between 90-158 degrees. The heat from the infrared sauna travels deeper into your body on a cellular level and you can feel it doing its work at much lower temperatures than we are accustomed to.

Infrared Saunas are the invisible part of the Sun’s spectrum. The same feeling you get when you soak in the sunlight for 5 minutes. It can heat you up from the inside, as well as the surface of your skin. You can feel it doing something inside of you. It’s the same with an infrared sauna.

2. HOW THE SAUNA HEATS UP

The second most prominent difference is the separate mechanisms to generate heat inside the wood sauna. Dry Saunas are generated by electric heaters and/or rocks that are heated to extreme temperatures while Infrared Saunas use Infrared heat systems to generate heat. Which leads us to our next point.

3. NEAR, MID, AND FAR-INFRARED HEAT WAVES

The Sunlighten brand that we use at Halo Salt Spa has a patented Solar Carbon advanced ‘spectrum ability’ to provide 3 types of infrared waves. The Near, Mid and Far waves all have different health benefits that come together to penetrate the body on a cellular level. In other words, the dry saunas are an external heat source that just makes your skin sweat while the infrared saunas use wavelengths to reach inside the cells to flush out any toxins.

You’ll love it. It’s like spring cleaning for the body’s cellular structure! (p.s. 100% of the human’s body is made of cells)

4. HELPS WITH WEIGHT LOSS AND CELLULITE

Infrared saunas are much better at helping you achieve noticeable weight loss. The penetrating waves seem to have a direct correlation with increased metabolism, not to mention that the heat + waves work together to clean us out.

Using the infrared sauna regularly can result in a slimmer, more toned appearance just from this collaborative effort of heat and vibration. Studies have shown that just a 30-minute sauna session can burn up to 600 calories

5. CELL HEALTH IMMUNITY

Near and Far Infrared waves have characteristics that make them different.

Near-infrared waves are shorter and don’t travel far. Good news since you’ll be sitting inside of this basswood wooden room. These shorter waves penetrate the epidermis (first major layers of the skin) and result in tissue growth, immune system strength, and muscle recovery.

Far Infrared waves raise the core body temperature of the body from the inside out. They don’t heat the air, but rather travel deep inside the cells of our bodies and generate heat from within. Resulting in a sweat that pushes out toxins and even aiding in blood cleaning and in some cases reducing blood pressure

These are just some of the health benefits that studies are finding. It’s as simple as coming to test it out. You will feel the difference.

BONUS: WOUND HEALING

Medical College of Wisconsin pioneered a study showing the LED light interaction with infrared waves and the results in the human body that it can produce. Since color therapy using multi-colored LEDs is another part of the relaxing experience in the Infrared Sauna here at Halo, we wanted to know what the benefits were before ever allowing it in our location.

According to the study, and what we have found as a result of testing, is that these two processes together stimulate white cell growth and duplication, collagen production, weight loss, detoxed skin, and an overall feeling of wellbeing
